I have struggled with disordered attention for years. When I started on ADHD medication last December, the day-to-day tasks got so much easier. I have found the literal magic pill.

There’s a sense of grief on how far I’ve bulldozed my way through, despite the neurodivergence. Despite my scatterbrain-ness, lack of organization, and fluctuating motivation.

And a big part of how I managed to accomplish my tasks relatively well was because I had excellent teammates who complimented my shortcomings.

I think of my Suit back in the agency, Cindy Chew, who was patient with a junior copywriter trying to get his ego in check. She was fair both to the clients and the Creatives. She wasn’t just a messenger but a negotiator. And she wrote clear briefs!

I think of my Social Media Strategist back in corporate, Vikki Tan, who did way more to assist me than she should have. Her executions were fast and precise, and her visualization skill was chef’s kiss. She reminded me of all my meetings from the top of her brain. I think she had two brains.

I think of my friend and business partner, Jocelyn Yu, for being an excellent friend and business partner. Her entrepreneurial intuition is something that I aspire to learn from. When I think of work ethics I admire, I think of these three women.

There’s more to explore on the topic of different personalities, motivations, and working styles. In coaching associates, I empathize with Creatives who face similar struggles as mine. And in terms of team dynamics, I’ll look out for the Cindy, the Vikki, and the Jocelyn of the world.
