Fuh, tajuk macam canggih. Anyway, if your organic growth has been stagnating for a while, or your paid ads have been hard carrying your lead gen; tibalah masa untuk bermuhasabah diri.
Start with these 5 questions:
- What are your biggest assumptions (behind the plateau)?
- How can you quickly validate these assumptions?
- What do you believe are the current bottlenecks?
- What you will do first to unblock it?
- What will be your first content to capture the right fit lead?
Now, let’s put these questions to practice. In this exercise, our company is a coding bootcamp that promises “Noob to data scientist in 10 weeks” or something like that, but the answers can also apply to career coaches and L&D providers. Here we go:
Q1: What is your biggest assumptions (behind the plateau)? Answer: Currently, our organic content revolves around coding tutorials and job interview tips. They have a hard time reaching intended audience because they are not localized, which means they are competing with the biggest global content creators (eg W3School, FreeCodeCamp, Fireship).
Q2: How can you quickly validate this assumption? Answer: List and compare engagement of local content creators talking about generic vs localized tech/jobs-related topics.
Q3: What do you believe is the current bottleneck? Answer: Potential leads can either be overwhelmed by jargon or have a narrow idea on what they could do or where they could go after graduating from the courses.
Q4: What you will do first to unblock it? Answer: Demystify computer science roles in the local job market.
Q5: What will be your first content to capture the right fit lead? Answers (same content, different hooks):
- “If there’s a lot of tech jobs in MY, why is no one calling back? We investigate…”
- “This Msian data scientist earns RM20K a month, but what does she really do?”
- (I’ll put a third suggestion later)
Important note: I really advice AGAINST feeding these questions to AI right away, at least for the first few rounds of brainstorming. Unless you have extensive KB to provide context, AI responses are just gonna send you into a spiral. Also, we’re all getting older, why not fight cognitive entropy.
